Montague were put in nomination for President. R. L. Montague having received a majority of the votes, was declared to be elected. While the committee was out comparing the result of the ballots for Vice President, on motion, a committee of five was appointed to prepare and report an address on the state of the country and the duties of Christians in the present crisis. The President appointed the following: Rev. Dr. Seely, Rev. Dr. Jeter, Rev. A. Broaddus, Rev. David Shaver, and James Alexander. The President on being conducted to the chair made a brief address. The Committee on Election of Officers reported the election of four Vice Presidents, viz: Elders. Wm. F. Broaddue, D. Witt, T. Hume, R. Ryland. A. P. Abell, of Charlottesville, was elected Secretary, and J. B. Walkins, of Richmond city, Treasurer. Rev. W. S. Perrick was appointed Assistant Secretary, who read the Constitution and Rules of Order. Rev. Dr. Ryland presented the following resolution
