Destructive fire. --About 2 o'clock yesterday morning the large brick building on the south side of the basin, between Ninth and Tenth streets, used by the Government for the storage of hay, was destroyed by fire. Two thousand bales of hay, valued at five thousand dollars, stored therein, was entirely consumed. From this building the flames communicated to two others on the right, used respectively by Richard Schultz as a store and dwelling, and by the Government as a lumber-house and negro quarters for hands employed in the manufacture of pontoon boats; both of which were a total loss. The hay warehouse was owned by Joseph Allen, of this city; the other two buildings were the property of Mr. Schultz, the aggregate loss of which we have been unable to ascertain. The fire was the work of an incendiary.
