York, charged with the murder of her husband by poison, and who has been twice sentenced to death, was to-day released from confinement by Judge Wright, of the Supreme Court, on proceedings brought before him by her counsel. Secretary Chase said, in response to a toast at a dinner given by the Union Club of New York, that the blackest negro in South Carolina, though black as midnight, was, in his eyes, whiter than the whitest rebel.
