Author; born in Newburyport, Mass., June 9, 1782; graduated at Harvard College in 1800; was admitted to the bar, but became a merchant; served in the War of 1812.
He was the author of Sketch of Bunker Hill battle; Sketches of a few distinguished men of Newburyport; Who was the commander at Bunker Hill? with remarks on Frothingham's history of the battle; Defence of Colonel Pickering against Bancroft's history; Original planning and construction of Bunker Hill monument, etc. He died in Boston, Mass., Oct. 28, 1866.
