Since the war his attention has been given to farming, the fertilizer business and to the operation of machinery. He is now president of the Laurens oil and fertilizer company. For a number of years he did a contracting business, and many of the houses in the city of Laurens were built by him. He was married, September 7, 1869, to Miss Nannie M. Barksdale, daughter of Downs Barksdale, and niece of John A. Barksdale. She died June 23, 1886, leaving seven children. Lieutenant William Elliott Huger, formerly of the staff of Gen. A. M. Manigault, was born at Charleston, January 8, 1844.
