irginia Sephus, a free negress, charged with stealing $15 from St. S. S. Moncure, was discharged for want of sufficient evidence to inculpate her. James Keller, who appears to have borne a good character up to the time of coming to this city, and who gave that as a reason for appearing before His Honor on Saturday last under the name of John Smith, was again in court this morning, on the charge of having acted in a disorderly and unbecoming manner at the Exchange Hotel the other day. S. S. Baxter, Esq., testified that be had long known the accused as a gentleman, and Keller was thereupon granted permission to go at large, upon giving bail in $100 for his future good conduct. William T. Robinson was fined $1 for being drunk at the Ballard House. C. Wendlinger was fined $3 for violently assaulting and beating Aaron, a slave of E. A. Nance.
