county. The day of his decease, the judge of the circuit court of Richmond and Henrico entered upon the records of that court a strong and feeling tribute to his memory, and adjourned. The next day there was a meeting, in the capitol, of the surviving judges of the Court of Appeals, the judge of the circuit court of Richmond and Henrico, the officers of both courts, and members of the bar. On motion of Judge Henry St. George Tucker, Judge Francis T. Brooke was called to the chair, and Sidney S. Baxter, Attorney-General, appointed secretary. Mr. Leigh moved a preamble and resolutions of respect and condolence, which were unanimously adopted. Mr. Leigh's estimate of his character, ability and services was a very high one. C. S. District Court. --The Court yesterday heard the argument of P. H. Aylett, Esq., District Attorney, in reply to Mr. Gilmer, on the constitutionality of the Sequestration law Some progress was made in the Admiralty case entitled Isaac Williams, Henry Forrest, David Williams, and Benjamin Briggs vs sloop Betsey Richards. A number of cases have lately been entered on the docket. Messrs. Sidney S. Baxter, Andrew Johnston and Walter Harrison quatined as Attorney to practice in this Court.
Prisoners of war. --The sixteen persons mentioned yesterday as having taken the oath of allegiance, are released prisoners, who were brought here on the charge of disloyalty. We understand that two little chaps named Charles Smith and Thomas Livingston, who were captured with the others in a boat on the Potomac, a few days ago, have been released, and will be sent back to their friends without delay. We also hear that Capt. J. B. Ricketts, of the Federal army, who was wounded and captured in the battle of Manassas, will leave to-day for the North, having been exchanged for Capt. DeLagnel Mrs. Ricketts who has shared his captivity from her own choice, accompanies him. Wm. H. Byrd, who has for some time past been caged in the county jail, will probably be released in a short time. Sidney S. Baxter, Esq., has been appointed Commissioner to examine prisoners, in place of Col. Lyons, resigned.
Examining Court. --The Confederate States Commissioner, Sidney S. Baxter, Esq., was engaged the whole of yesterday in examining subjects confined in Castle Godwin for offences other than those of a police nature. Several cases were disposed of, and more will be today.
