o act upon matters relating to the war was held on the 10th of May, at which it was voted to pay each married man who has enlisted or shall enlist in the military service during the rebellion the sum of fifteen dollars a month, and to each unmarried man ten dollars a month, independent of any pay he may receive from the General Government; and also to pay each man one dollar and twenty-five cents for each day spent in drilling during the next three weeks. John Glover, Wyman Abercrombie, Thompson Baxter, Jonathan Jameson, Henry Littlefield, and Edmund B. Taylor were chosen to carry the above votes into effect. 1862. July 21st, The selectmen were authorized to pay a bounty of one hundred and twenty-five dollars to every man who has enlisted or who shall enlist for three years service and be credited to the quota of the town; and to all those enlisting after ten days a bounty of one hundred dollars. The treasurer was authorized to borrow the money required to pay the same. August 26
