ng particulars The East India Squadron was commanded by Commodore Stribling, and consisted of the steamship Hartford, (flag ship,) the sloop John Adams, Commander Berrien; the steam sloop Decotah, Commander Racford; and the steamer Saginaw, Commander Schenck. The principal officers were nearly all Northern men. Commodore Stribling is a South Carolinian; Commander Radford, a Virginian; Commander Berrien, a Georgian and Lieutenants Parker and Forrest, Virginians. While at Hong Kong, in the latter part of June, news of the secession of Virginia was received by the squadron, producing a prest sensation. Not very long afterwards, Commodore Stribling abling on some committee of investigation at Washington, and Commander Radford a member of the Light Board of New York. It was also understood generally that Commander Berrien would stay with the North. His ship had not arrived at last dates. Soon after the change of officers, the squadron was ordered home, except the Saginaw
