Burglary.
--On Saturday night last the hay-house of Mr. N. F. Bowe, in the neighborhood of Camp Lee, was broken open and robbed of a large quantity of hay, which was subsequently tracked to the house of a negro living in Screamersville.
Two negroes, found in the house, were arrested; both of whom are wagon-drivers on the street.
In the stable on the premises were three mules, claimed by the negroes as their property.--A lot of cassimere, osnaburgs, a bowie knife and a variety of burglar's tools were found in the house.
One of the negroes was owned by Dr. Carver, and was ordered thirty-nine lashes by Justice Lee; the other, who is owned by a lady, but disposes of his own time, was committed for burglary.
In this case, as, in fact, in ninety-nine cases out of every hundred of the daring robberies which are committed in this city, the perpetrators are slaves, who, in violation of law, always succeed in getting persons to stand masters and mistresses for them, while they them
