John Boyle, Assistant Adjutant-General for the District of Kentucky, Louisville: on Thursday, the seventeenth instant, about three o'clock P. M., I was attacked at this place by the forces under command of Col. John H. Morgan, comprising three regiments, composed of Kentuckians, Tennesseeans, Georgians, Mississippians, Texans, and South-Carolinians, estimated variously at from fifteen hundred to three thousand men; reported by Capt.
