New members of Congress.
William M. Cook and Thomas W. Freeman, of Missouri, and Alexander B. Bradford, of Mississippi, (elected to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Clayton, appeared yesterday, were qualified, and took their seats as members of the Provisional Congress.
Nothing of importance was made public.
It is understood, however, that Congress is engaged in the consideration of measures calculated to provide for the welfare of the people and the independence of the Confederacy.
