The 10th Mass. Infantry was recruited in the western part of the State, was mustered into the service June 21, 1861, under Col. Henry S. Briggs, and left Boston July 25, 1861, for Washington, where it remained stationed at Camp Brightwood during the autumn and winter of 1861-62.
