The selectmen in the years 1861, 1862, and 1863 were Ebenezer Swan, Ebenezer Bancroft, Luther Butterfield; in 1864, Ebenezer Bancroft, Daniel Parham, Zephaniah Bennett; in 1865, Ebenezer Swan, Zephaniah Bennett, Luther Butterfield. The town-clerk in the years 1861 and 1862 was R. S. Coburn; in 1863 and 1864, W. B. Brinley; in 1865, Francis Brinley. The town-treasurer in the years 1861, 1862, and 1863 was John G. Upton; in 1864, Samuel A. Richardson; in 1865, Ebenezer Swan. But few meetings appear to have been held by the town in reference to war matters; the authorities having them in charge. A meeting was held on the 21st of July, 1862, at which it was voted to pay a bounty of one hundred dollars to each volunteer for three years, to the number of nine, who should enlist to fill the quota of the town.
