The town-clerk during all these years was William Pool. The town-treasurer in 1861, 1862, and 1863, was Henry Clark; in 1864 and 1865, Joseph Manning. 1861. The first legal town-meeting, to consider matters connected with the war, was held April 30th, at which a report was made by a committee who had been chosen at a citizens' meeting held April 22d. The report recommended an appropriation of three thousand dollars;
