Mr. Editor: Allow me to acknowledge through your columns the following patriotic response to your recent appeal in behalf of Springfield Hospital:
Rev. Mr. Brown--Dear Sir:
I send by the Richmond and Danville Railroad a box containing twenty chickens and one containing eight dozen eggs, for the sick soldiers at Springfield Hospital, which I direct to your care. Very respectfully, Martha A. Fowles.
