This gallant command participated in the Murfreesboro campaign, where it won great distinction, under the leadership of Major Cox; again in the Atlanta campaign, led by Major Whiteley, and in the Tennessee campaign, under Capt. In the spring of 1865, consolidated with the Eighth battalion and the Sixty-fifth regiment, it participated in the campaign of the Carolinas in which General Johnston was again in command of the army, whose love and esteem he had gained in the Atlanta campaign.
