When the affray began Dr. B. thinks he saw Pryor using his knife, and others beating the deceased. A wounded soldier, who saw the row; attempted to receive Wright, but was set upon and beaten. Fortunately Capt. Haywood, with his mounted corps, heard the row, and hastening to the shot, ordered the arrest of the parties. As he did so Patrick McAnara attacked the Captain with a club, for which be received a sales cut across the fact, and was then arrested. Pryor, the man charged with the murder, made his escape during the confusion; but, as the police have the matter in hand, he will no doubt be captured. To enable the witnesses to appear, the Mayor adjourned the examination until the and remanded Skahan and McAnara to jail. John Carter, one of the men charged with participating in the murder, was arrested yesterday afternoon and committed to the lower station-house.
