Convicted of Forgery.
--Yesterday the Hustings Court tried Alexander D. Cheatham for forging the names of Laniers, Tolleson & Catlett, of this city, to a check, and getting the money therefore.
The prisoner, on being arraigned, plead guilty, thus throwing himself upon the mercy of the jury, who, after hearing the evidence, retired for a short time, and on their return rendered a verdict of guilty, ascertaining his punishment at seven years in the penitentiary.
There are nine other indictments against him, which have been continued.
