The streets. --The city carts have been employed ever since Christmas in hauling wood for the use of the poor, consequently the hands have had but little chance to pay the usual amount of attention to the streets. In some of the streets the pavements are considerably cut up and need repairs which might be done by the chain gang, but just at present that institution is dormant, the officer in charge of the prisoners having been transferred to the night watch.
