George Christy, the original, aided by a large number of very fine performer, is to give a grand musical entertainment at Mechanics' Institute Hall this evening. The admirers of "burnt cork opera," as well as others who are fond of good music, and can appreciate a hearty laugh, will be sure to attend.
Christy's Minstrels. --This excellent company commenced their series of performances at the Mechanics' Institute last night, under the most favorable an spices. The entertainment fully came up to the expectations of the public, which had been considerably excited by the previous announcements. Their instrumental and vocal music is No. 1, and the burlesques are of the most mirth provoking sort. For to night they offer a capital programme, which will attract a large audience.
Christy's Minstrels. --We generally attend Ethiopian Concerts for the purpose of enjoying a hearty laugh, and we have certainly had that this week, at Mechanics' Hall; but we had the pleasure, moreover, of listening to some of the most exquisite instrumental music we ever heard. Their combination of instruments, in the hands of skillful players, produces harmony that delights the ear, and the flute, harp, cornet and violin solos are equally good.
