A patriotic tour. Among the first volunteers to reach the Capital in response to the call of the Commonwealth, were the Danville Blues, Capt. Wm. P. Graves, and the Danville Grays, Capt. Thos. A. Claiborne. The following account of their departure from Danville is copied from the Register: At one o'clock on Tuesday morning last, a telegraphic dispatch was received from the Executive of Virginia, ordering the Danville Blues and the Danville Grays to proceed to Richmond with all proper expedition.--The gallant fellows were roused from their slumbers, by the sound of the drum heard, along our streets, and at five o'clock were on the cars and off for the wars. Within four hours from the reception of the order, they left their homes, their families and their friends, and responded to their country's call with an alacrity highly honorable, and which, we imagine, has few parallels in history.
