A Young Rogue.
--On Thursday afternoon a youth named Robert Clarke was detected in the act of stealing a pocket-book from the pocket of Mr. William J. McDowell, an employee at the Central Railroad Depot.--Mr. McDowell, desiring to send some money to a friend some distance up the road, had gone into one of the baggage cars for the purpose of entrusting it with the conductor; but just before taking the money from his pocket he felt some one pushing against him, when he immediately slapped his hand on his coat pocket and felt young Clarke's hand as it was drawn out. On questioning the prisoner as to his business in the place he was, he replied that he was looking for his father; but afterwards equivocated in such a manner as to confirm Mr. McDowell in his first suspicious, when he concluded to take him in custody and hand him over to the Mayor.
After obtaining the above facts.
His Honor sent the accused on to the Hustings Court for further examination.
