Dr. McGuire married Mary Stuart, daughter of Hon. A. H. H. Stuart, of Staunton, Secretary of the interior under President Fillmore. He is survived by his wife and nine children—Dr. Stuart McGuire, of this city; Dr. Hugh McGuire, of Alexandria; Mrs. Edward McGuire, of Richmond; Mrs. William Law Clay, of Savannah, and Miss Francis B. Augusta, M. Gettie, and Margaret, and Mr. Hunter McGuire. Dr. McGuire's reputation was not local, nor was it even national, for he was known and honored and beloved in Europe as well as in this hemisphere. He was frequently honored by the societies of his profession.
