ves with sincere regret the announcement of the death of the Hon. Muscoe R. H. Garnett, late a member of the House of Representatives from the State of Virginia, and tenders to the relatives of the deceased the assurance of their sympathy with them under the bereavement they have been called to sustain. Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate be directed to transmit to the family of Mr. Garnett a certified copy of the foregoing resolution. After enologies upon the deceased by Messrs. Clay, of Ala, and Maxwell, of Fla., the resolutions were agreed to. Mr. Hill, from the Committee appointed to wait on the President, announced that the President had no further communication to make, but tendered to the Senate assurances of his highest consideration, and hoped that before the next meeting of Congress the perils that environed the country would have been dispelled.
