She has devoted herself with all a woman's ardor to the glorious cause of her country, and has been incessantly engaged with a number of her female friends in making flags and uniforms for the gallant volunteers. She has canvassed her district and raised liberal subscriptions to the cause. Her noble example deserves applause. J. A. Cowardin, Esq., of the Dispatch, presented the flag, on behalf of the ladies, and was responded to by Capt. McCann, on behalf of the company. Mr. C. has been for some weeks an invalid in the mountains. The parting scene was touching. The lady relatives of the patriotic young men were present, and though they willingly parted with them to go to their country's defence, still it were impossible to suppress the natural emotions at the separation.
