Mechanies' Institute. --This building was splendidly illuminated last Friday night, and attracted a large share of public attention.--The janitor of the Institute, R. B. Craddock, is entitled to praise for the achievement.
Confederate Congress.first session. Senate. Wednesday,March 26, 1862. Mr. Bampwell, of S. C., presented the memorial of R. B. Craddock, asking an increase of compensation as Messenger to the President. Referred. Mr. Sparrow, from the Committee on Military Affairs, reported a bill to increase the pay of chaplains in the army to $80 per month. A message was received from the House announcing the passage of a bill to change the time of holding the Confederate District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, to the 1st Wednesdays in June and December of each year. The Senate passed the bill and returned it to the House. A resolution appointing committees of both Houses was passed by the Senate, to procure and take charge of the papers, &c., of the late Provisional Congress. Messrs. Johnson, of Tennessee, and Hunter, of Virginia, were appointed as the committee on behalf of the Senate. The Senate went into consideration of the bill (before reported) to prov
-In our notice of the difficulty between Messrs. J. M. Ford and R. B. Craddock, published yesterday morning, a note was appended, in which it was stated that Craddock had been examined before Gen. Winder, Major Griswold, and Major Carrington, and by each acquitted. Since then we having officer: Q. What do you know about the charge against R. B.
