Attacked by a Garroter.
--On Tuesday evening last, about 7½ o'clock, as Mr. William A. Boswell, miller at Haxall, Crenshaw & Co.'s flouring mill, was going from his own residence, on Marshall and 27th streets, to Mr. Joseph H. Crenshaw's, on Broad and 27th, he was met by a stranger, who approached and asked him what time it was. Upon answering the inquiry, the fellow immediately struck him with a slung shot and felled him to the earth; but, before he succeeded in accomplishing his designs,Mr. Joseph H. Crenshaw's, on Broad and 27th, he was met by a stranger, who approached and asked him what time it was. Upon answering the inquiry, the fellow immediately struck him with a slung shot and felled him to the earth; but, before he succeeded in accomplishing his designs, whatever they were, Mr. B. was sufficiently recovered to give the alarm, when the assassin took fright and made good his escape.
While the injuries inflicted upon Mr. Boswell are of quite a serious character, yet it is gratifying to learn that his life is not put in jeopardy by them.
