Convicts --John Eider, the garroter, who was killed last Wednesday night while in the act of assassinating Beverly J. Jordan; William Martin, the man who claimed the cap that Eider wore at the time he was killed; and William Cummings, the man to whom he said be loaned his cap to on the afternoon before the murder and who must have exchanged it with Eider; are all three penitentiary convicts, and desperate characters. Martin is now in custody. He has trade such a variety of statements as to where he was on the night of the shooting that he will find some difficulty in clearing his skirts of the charge of being an aider and abettor in the attempted murder.
