Home Missionary Society saved us from disaster. Mr. Cutter was for several years the scribe of the Woburn Conference, and interested many in our cause. Mr. Stephen Cutter of Winchester pledged six hundred dollars toward the floating debt, provided that twenty-five hundred dollars should be raised. Most of the churches of theort the society's treasurer secured the reduction of the rate of interest from eight to seven, then to six and one-half, then to six per cent. March 3, 1882, Mr. Cutter resigned, to become New England secretary of the American Tract Society. For seven and a half years he had led us, since the dedication of the meeting-house. Bean were appointed dedication committee. The meeting-house was dedicated by a six-day service.
