Maryland artillery. --The officers of this admirable company are A. Snowden Andrews, of Baltimore, Captain; William F. Dement, of Charles, First Lieutenant; Charles Contee, of Prince George, Second Lieutenant; F. Dabney, of Mississippi, Third Lieutenant. The company consists of one hundred men, all Marylanders save four Mississippians. Their battery consists of one rifled cannon, two 12-pounders and three 12-pound howitzers. They have been encamped near the Reservoir, where men and horses have undergone a strict course of drill, preparatory to being ordered upon active service. High expectations have been entertained of this corps, which has been a great favorite in Richmond, and is composed of the sons of many of the oldest and best families in lower Maryland. Their uniform is in color a light grey, almost white, from which it can hardly be distinguished at a distance — kepi, jacket and trousers being all of the same color, relieved by scarlet trimmings.
