He (Fisher) took the cars that evening for Lynchburg, and, on arriving, ascertained from Mr. McEnery's clerk that the paper which Fitzgerald had shown was a forgery, whereupon he immediately telegraphed to this city for his arrest. Upon this testimony the prisoner was remanded for examination before the Hustings Court. Henry, a venerable looking darkey, belonging to Samuel Red, and Tom and Patrick, slaves of Buck Davidson, were charged with assaulting and robbing B. F. Grant of an overcoat and breastpin, valued at $40, and $20 in Confederate money, a few nights since. The statement of the complainant was that he had called at the shoe shop of these negroes for a pair of shoes which be had left there to be mended, and on receiving them he offered a $20 note to pay for them. t Wilson, slave of Caroline Carter, of stealing a quantity of sugar and other articles from James Lyons, was, in consequence of its originally having been before the Mayor, put off till this morning. Charles Isaacs and Richard Barny, charged with garroting and robbing Augustus Haxall on Wednesday night last, was taken up; but, on account of the absence of important witnesses, the case was put off for a future hearing. Henry, slave of Samuel Redd, and Tom, and Patrick, slaves of Buck Davidson, charged with assaulting B. F. Grant and robbing him of an overcoat, a breastpin, and $20 in money, were called; but the Recorder, being Indisposed to take up any case which had previously been before the Mayor, put off the examination till this morning. C. J. Brown and Charley White, charged with turning on the gas at Metropolitan Hall after it had been turned off by order of the Inspector of Gas, were fined $5. In this case the evidence proved that the gas had been turned off thro
