a descent simultaneously on the rooms formerly known as the Secession Club Restaurant, also No. 149, No. 151, and No. 153 Main st. In the old Secession Club House were found Thomas H. Hiltzheimer, Thomas Fitzgerald, Charles Wilson, Franklin Pemberton, Michael Murray, and a negro attendant, named Charles Fagaff, who were carried to the cage. No gambling apparatus was found in this tenement, the occupants having removed the same. In No. 149 was found John Ferguson, Geo. Walters, Jerome Diggs, Emeline Jones, John Reese, Nicholas Munday, Jno. H. Goodblood, Harry Krebs, Wm. S. Murphy, two free negro attendants, named Jos Morton and Alphens Ganton, and John, slave of Capt. John Wilson. ess of the establishment, was required to give surety to be of good behavior, and $300 to appear before the Grand Jury. Each of the girls were required to find $300 surety to be of good behavior. John Martin, Henry Krebs, Humphrey Haley, Jerome Diggs, Daniel Summers, and John Slate, parties found in the houses inhabited by the above named females, at the time of the descent — this morning between four and five o'clock--were each required to find $300 surety to be of good behavior. Krebs and Diggs being already under bonds for a like amount, the same were forfeited. Wm. McIntyre and John Congre, privates of the President's Cuard, were charged with stealing a pair of shoes, valued at $18, from M. Golden, merchant, Broad, between 3d and 4th streets. Golden said that Congre had frequently visited his establishment, usually bringing a "customer," and after putting him to considerable trouble would leave without buying anything. Court, and sent McNamara on to answer at the April term. He was allowed to give $550 bail for his appearance, which he did. The darkey concerned in the transaction was punished by 39 lashes. Mike Cary, charged with getting drunk and lying down in the street, was let off. Martha Mayo, a free negress, arrested for stealing a breastpin from Catharine Jones proved her innocence and was discharged. Hustings Court, March 14th--Presents Recorder Caskie, and Aldermen Sanxay, Bray, Beveridge, and Anderson. Nathaniel B. Hill was fined ten dollars for permitting his slave, Washington, to go at large and hire himself out, contrary to law. A capias was awarded against Jerome Diggs for falling to answer when summoned to be tried for a misdemeanor for which he had been indicted. J. C. Ellett was deed ten dollars on a conviction of misdemeanor, the same consisting of buying a lot of butter, contrary to the market ordinance. The Court adjourned till the next term.
Hustings Court. --A number of cases, mostly misdemeanors, were disposed of yesterday, as follows: James Flanagan, permitting his servant Maria to go at large, Fined $10 and costs. Jerome Diggs, for dealing faro. Trial continued and accused balled for his appearance at the next term. John G. Scott, feloniously assaulting with a brick and killing James Powers, on the 15th of June. Examined and sent on for final trial at the next term of Judge Lyons's Court. This murder occurred in the city jail, where prisoner and deceased were confined. William, a slave, charged with stealing $100 from Sam Hastings, on the 3d of July. Tried and acquitted. John H. Day, exhibiting fare for negroes, in a house in the Valley. Found guilty by the jury and fined $100. The Court sentenced him to twelve months imprisonment in the city jail. Prisoner's counsel gave notice of his intention to file a bill of exceptions, the Court having overruled his motion to set aside dict.
