General orders — no 1. Trans-Mississippi District Department, headquarters, little rock, Ark., Jan. 29, 1862.
1. The undersigned, by order of the President, assumes command of the Trans-Mississippi District, which comprises the States of Missouri and Arkansas, except that portion of them lying between the St. Francis and Mississippi rivers, as far north as Scott County, Missouri; the State of Louisiana as fa staff officers at headquarters:
Major W. L. Cabell, Chief of Quartermaster Department.
Major A. M. Haskell, Inspector General.
Major R. W. Keyworth, Chief of Subsistence Department.
Capt. W. N. K. Beall, Assistant Adj. General.
Surgeon J. D. Gaenslan, Medical Director.
First Lieut. Clement Sullivan, Aid-de-Camp.
