A free negro named Ben Scott, arrested on the charge of entering the house of John Graves and stealing sundry articles of wearing apparel belonging to said Graves, was partly examined by the Mayor yesterday, and its further consideration deferred till this morning. Mary Wiley, a white woman of a depraved character, was yesterday arraigned on the charge of unlawful intercourse with a negro man on Sunday night last. Failing to give security in the sum of $200, she was sent to jail. The negro woman Emeline, who was committed to prison on Saturday on the charge of stealing one black dress from Mrs. Mary Dornin, of the value of $100, was yesterday again brought before His Honor, and additional evidence given, which testimony proving her innocence she was discharged. G. E. Delarue was made to give up some watermelons which he had purchased contrary to a city ordinance.
