The Legislature. There was but little business before the Senate yesterday. A communication from the House announced the agreement of that body to the Senate joint resolution for a recess of the General Assembly during the Christmas holiday. A bill for the enrollment of persons between the ages of sixteen and fifty-five years, domiciled in this Commonwealth, was reported. A resolution was adopted inquiring into the expediency of paying to William R. C. Douglass the sum of $332.50 for services as steward of the Eastern Lunatic Asylum. Mr. Collier presented a serives of seven joint resolutions upon the subject of "instructing our Senators and requesting our Representatives in Congress to use their best endeavors to prevent the appointment to office of men who were not of Southern birth and education, or who are not ascertained, by long trial, to be heartily devoted to the cause of the South, so that none but such shall be trusted to take charge and be in command
