The apple brandy question also receives some attention in the following orders, which are furnished us by our correspondent with General Early's army: Headquarters Valley District, October 25, 1864. General Orders, No. 44. I. Officers commanding divisions, brigades, regiments, battaods of every description; but horses and mules will be taken from the persons having them in possession, whether appropriated or not. By command of Lieutenant-General J. A. Early. [Signed] S. J. C. Moore, Assistant Adjutant-General. Special Orders, No. 45. All spirituous liquors brought to the camp or the vicinle or barter, will be seized and turned over to the medical department without compensation to the owner; and all distilleries in the neighborhood will be closed.--Division commanders will see to the execution of this order. By command of Lieutenant-General J. A. Early. [Signed] S. J. C. Moore, Assistant Adjutant-General.
From General Early's Army. [Correspondence of the Richmond Dispatch.] Camp near New Market, November 2, 1864. In a recent letter I made some mention of the great need of consolidation in some parts of this command, in which many of the men were captured in the last campaign. I am glad to say that in Terry's brigade, the first, (Stonewall,) second, and third brigades of Jackson's old division have already been consolidated — in some instances two original regiments now forming one comwe have been in this camp I am sorry to say that there has proven to be too much ardent spirits in this vicinity; but on yesterday Special Order No. 45 was issued very timely. I send a copy enclosed. It is published in another column.--Ed.] General Early could not have issued any better order than this, confiscating all spirituous liquors, for sale in the vicinity, to the medical department. I send you, also, a copy of General Orders No. 44, Headquarters of the Valley District, dated Oct
