Eldridge, Hamilton N., 1831-1882 Military officer; born in South Williamstown, Mass., Aug. 23, 1831; graduated at Williams College in 1856; and engaged in law practice in 1857. He recruited the 127th Illinois Regiment in July, 1862; was promoted colonel; and was brevetted brigadier-general of volunteers in recognition of his bravery at Vicksburg.
