he has been very successful. In 1881 he was appointed on the commission to revise and codify the statutes of the State, his associates being Judge Simonton and William H. Parker. Being elected to the legislature in 1882 he served with credit as a member of the judiciary committee. He holds the rank of commander of the camp of United Confederate veterans at Yorkville, of which he was one of the organizers. By his marriage, in 1863, to Miss M. J. Ratchford, he has six children: Arthur G., J. Frank, Edward W., John R., Margaret H., and Mary E. Edward Wheeler Haselden Edward Wheeler Haselden was born, November 24, 1838, in Georgetown, S. C., and educated in that city. He was engaged in the mercantile business at the outbreak of the war and enlisted, in April, 1861, in Company A, Tenth South Carolina infantry, as second sergeant, filling this office until the close of the war, and surrendering at Greensboro, N.
