Suit for damages.
--Mrs. Elizabeth Austin, mother of Rev. Thomas H. B. Austin, who was recently killed on the Baltimore and Ohio railroad, has, through her counsel, J. M. Frazier, Esq., instituted suit against the company, claiming twenty thousand dollars damages, in the Superior Court of Baltimore city.
It will be remembered that an accident occurred near the Relay House, by which one or more cars were broken, and while workmen were engaged with a derrick, endeavoring to get the broken car off the track, the train in which Mr. Austin was seated passed on its way to this city.
Mr. Austin had his head resting on his arm, against the window, when the car came in contact with the corner of the broken car, with the above result.
The company offered to settle the case by paying two thousand hundred dollars, but the plaintiff required ten thousand dollars, which amount was refused to be paid by the company.-- Baltimore American.
