The public Buildings.
--Since the appearance of a paragraph in this column relative to the necessity of repairing the State House, we have been reminded that Capt. Sam Freeman, the capable and indefatigable Superintendent of Public Buildings, has heretofore reported to the Governor a plan for improving the Capitol, to which his Excellency, as we now remember, called the attention of the Legislature in his annual Message.
The complications of State and Federal affairs have of late years caused such documents to assume necessarily such inordinate dimensions that we may well be pardoned for not remembering all its suggestions, however valuable they may be. We make the following extract from the Message on the subject of the public buildings and grounds.
His Excellency says:
"I communicate herewith the report of the Superintendent.
It presents truly the condition of the several public buildings, and the repairs necessary to be made to put them in good condition.
