District Court--sequestration. An answer was presented yesterday by Nathaniel Carust, to a petition filed by Receiver Giles, on the 28th of September, for the sequestration of personal property consisting of a lot of piano-fortes. Since the 30th of September petitions have been presented for the sequestration of estates held by the following, as former agents or partners enemies. Thos.8. Baldwin and John T. C. S. District Court. --The case of the Confederate States against C. W. Purcell and others, to sequestrate the sum of $15,000 due by the defendant to Ashmead and others, alien enemies, occupied the attention of the Court on Saturday. Mr. Aylett, District Attorney, delivered his opening speech in behalf of the Government, and the further hearing of the case was postponed until 11 o'clock this morning. Confederate States against Richard G. Morriss, to sequestrate the property of an alien enemy. An order was entered referring the case to Commissioner Watson to take proof. The matter involved in this case is a certain note alleged to be due by the defendant to C. M. Fry & Co. Robert Ould and James Lyons have qualified to practice law in this Court.
C. S. District Court. --On Saturday the District Attorney entered a noole prosequi in the case of Chas. Patz, the individual charged with stealing blank Confederate Treasury notes. In the case of C. S. A. us. Wolff and Stern, to effect the property of George and Simon Elkers, the Judge dismissed the petition filed against them, thereby virtually proclaiming the loyally of the parties sought to be effected. In the case of the C. S. A. against Chapman J. Leigh, to effect the property of C. M. Fry & Co., the report of Commissioner Watson was returned and filed. The latter is understood to be adverse to the claims of defendand, Leigh, who is a native and now a citizen of Richmond.
