Express. --Mr. J. F. Gibson, agent of Adams Express Company, has been appointed "Notary Public," and can, therefore, administer the necessary oath to all shippers of goods to the Southern Confederacy, by Express.

And in all cases we required them to be enclosed in Government stamped envelopes. The copies of our way-bills, containing lists of the directions of every package and letter sent through the Express. can be seen at our office, and we invite the examination, by any person properly authorized to make the request, to look for the name of any person which could arouse the suspicion of the most excitable Southerner. In conclusion I have to say that this office is filled by men born and raised in the South and if not prominent and noisy in their demonstrations of loyalty to its institutions, it is only because they have thought more of acting upon such feelings and principles than of calling attention to a new-born zeal in their defense. Southern Express. --We are pleased to learn that J. F. Gibson, Esq., late Agent of the Southern Express Company, has been appointed Superintendent, and that Mr. John A. Bowen, late of Baltimore, has been appointed Agent in this city. The office of the Company in this city is in the large iron-front building, south Main street, square above the Banks.
