This old and respectable journal, which was established in 1838, by John Letcher, (now Governor of Virginia,) and Mr. Gillock, who has been connected with it ever since, and is its present proprietor, has come under the editorial charge of Mr. W. P. McCorkle, who is an experienced writer and editor. In introducing Mr. McCorkle, Mr. G. says: "We propose henceforth to devote the 'Star' to the interests of our native and beloved State.--We have waited until waiting ceases to be a virtue. The Old Dominion has done all that honor will allow to-preserve the old Union.
