A Lesson for hard Drinkers. --John Godfrey and Henry McGinn, two men employed by Mr. Fitch, contractor, received their pay yesterday evening, and went to take a glass before parting. If they had taken but one glass, it would have been well; it would not have been nothing either if they had taken two, or three, or even four em both, they drank so much, that by and by whiskey stole their reason, and this happened just as they were discussing the merits of the floating battery. John Godfrey had his opinion on that piece of naval architecture, and it was not exactly McGinn's opinion, which fact so enraged the former that in a fit of anger and drunkt quarter past 6 o'clock, on Perrilliat street, a lane which runs by the graveyard, between Magnolia and Howard streets.
