Attempt at poisoning.
--On Wednesday night, in Portsmouth, Va., an attempt at poisoning was made upon the family of Mrs. Maria Godwin, by introducing kerosene oil in the tea that was being prepared for supper.
Suspicion rests so strongly on a negro servant in the family, that she was arrested and confined in the city jail.
The family did not partake of the meal, having discovered the poison before sitting down to the table.
