ets, near the site of the old church, upon land given by Hon. Theodore Lyman, who also took ten pews in the house. Several years afterwards the building was removed to a site on Main Street, near the Central House, where the society worshiped till 1859, when they dissolved and the building was disposed of and converted to secular uses. It is now known as Exchange Hall, and is occupied as a Furniture store. Revs. Edwin A. Eaton, T. G. Farnsworth, A. P. Cleverley, Alexander Hichborn, Massena Goodrich, and Henry A. Eaton were successive pastors of the old church. After the society dissolved no regular meetings were held till 1865, when a new organization was effected and Rev. Benton Smith began preaching in Rumford Hall. March 28, 1869, Mrs. Phoebe A. Hanaford was settled over the Society and remained with them about a year. The Rev. Dr. Thayer and others then preached to the Society until the settlement of the present pastor, Rev. M. R. Leonard, September 1, 1871. Their serv
