Mayor's Court. --The following small cases were disposed of by the Mayor yesterday:--Henry Myers (stranger,) drunk and lying on the sidewalk, admonished and discharged. Dick, slave to James Martin, having butter supposed to be stolen, whipped. Ned Day, drunk and lying in the street, whipped. Jim Butler, free, no papers, and from the Penitentiary, committed and put to work. William Avery, white, threatening to assault B. Tracy, required to give security. Sol. Green, no papers, discharged. Peter Doyle, insensibly drunk, for the ninth time, committed. A number of negroes, found playing cards in Metropolitan Hall lot on Sunday, were also punished for trying to elucidate the mysteries of "high, low, Jack and the game."--John Scott, found sleeping in a vacant lot, was admonished and let off. Wm. T. Ring was fined $5 for assaulting and beating a slave owned by Dunlop, Moncure & Co. Marshall, slave of B. Jones, was whipped for harboring Susan, the property of J. W. Clarke. The ca

S. sloop-of-war Cumberland arrived at Norfolk, Va., Saturday night, from Vera Cruz. The dwelling of Thos. Worsham, in Prince George county, Va., was destroyed by fire on Saturday last. Loss $8,000. Stephen H. Payne, a clerk in the Brooklyn (N. Y.) post-office, fell dead in the street on Friday last. The total expenses of the New York Fire Department, for the past year, foot up the handsome sum of $268,000! Mr. Marsh, the Minister to Sardinia, will leave, via Havre, about the 1st of May. Green peas are selling in Charleston, S. C., at $2 a peck. Strawberries made their appearance in the Savannah (Ga.) market on Friday. Secretary Toombs is in Savannah.

rmen. Thadeus Scott, free negro, was tried for stealing, on the 2d of April, a pocket book containing $40, belonging to Wm H. Gentry.--He was found guilty, and in accordance with the State law was ordered to be sold into absolute slavery. Louisa Jenkins, free negro, was tried for stealing, on the 1st day of April, from Camille Ridgeley, a valise containing divers articles of the value of $100. The court voted that the case bad not been made out, and discharged the accused. Solomon Green and Thomas Didamus, free negroes, were tried for stealing $64 in bank notes from Captain Edward O'Brien, at the Powhatan House, on the 1st day of April. --The court adjudged them guilty, and determined that, instead of being confined in the Penitentiary, they should be sold into absolute slavery by the City Sergeant. Bill Scott, a free negro, was ordered to be sold into absolute slavery, for having, on the 15th day of March, falsely represented to Elizabeth Brown that he had obtain
