Lieutenant Henry ZZZIAns Greer, a veteran of the Twenty-fifth South Carolina infantry, was born at Charleston, June 20, 1841. Becoming a member in his youth of the Washington light. In June, 1862, he was promoted second sergeant, after the battle of Battery Wagner first sergeant, and in June, 1864, junior second and first lieutenant. Lieutenant Greer was in battle at Secessionville and Grimball's Causeway, was on duty in Fort Sumter when it was bombarded in February, 1863, and in October, 1863; in Virginiemnants of the Twenty-fifth and Twenty-seventh South Carolina regiments, numbering about sixty men, in which capacity he served thirty days.
