Circuit Court of Henrico county. --Judge Gregory presiding.--A. J. Holdman and Wm. H. Grant were placed at the bar, charged with receiving a large lot of clothing and jewelry from the slave of Charles Phillips on the first day of February, 1864, knowing the same to be stolen. They were both found guilty and sentenced to the Penitentiary for two years each. Wm. Keane was placed at the bar, charged with the murder of Wm. Black on the 5th day of November last, by striking him on the back of the head with a brickbat. Col. Evans and Mr. Hall volunteered their services at the request of the Court to defend the prisoner, which duty they performed with zeal and ability, without fee or reward. After the case was ably argued it was given to the jury, who returned a verdict of not guilty; thereupon the prisoner was discharged by order of the Court.
